Frank D. Beck serves as the Director of the Stevenson Center. He is an Associate Professor of Sociology. Broadly, his interests are in community development, applied research, and teaching students the ways they might improve communities they inhabit going forward. In terms of applied research, Beck has worked locally with McLean County government, the local NAACP branch, the Ecology Action Center, Not In Our Town, School Street Food Pantry, Prairie Pride Coalition, the Immigration Project, and others. For the Stevenson Center, Beck manages personnel, budgets, strategic efforts, relationships with higher administration at Illinois State University. In the classroom, Beck teaches Senior Experience; Architecture, Power, and Interaction; Statistics; and a new class using GIS software. Beck’s scholarship presently focuses on 1) race and the criminal justice system and 2) the relationship between local ecology and persistent poverty.

Amy Scovel

Amy Scovel joined us in February 2023 as our new Office Manager. She serves as receptionist, bill payer, budget keeper, and completes various other administrative duties. Amy graduated from Illinois State University in 2004 with a degree in Mass Communication. She moved on to work for WEEK-TV and has also worked at State Farm and Earthbound Trading Company. Prior to coming to the Stevenson Center, Amy worked as the owner/chief videographer of Snowflake Studios.

Paige Buschman

Paige Buschman

Paige Buschman serves as the Stevenson Center Program Coordinator for the Peace Corps Fellows program and Applied Community and Economic Development (ACED) Fellows program. Paige recruits and advises students and manages relationships with partner organizations to arrange professional practice opportunities for Fellows. She received her undergraduate degree in Sociology from Illinois Wesleyan University. During her time in the graduate school at Illinois State University for Educational Administration she served in AmeriCorps through her graduate assistantship at the Center for Civic Engagement. Paige has worked in a variety of student service areas and brings a passion for higher education and community support to her role.

Dane Myers

Dane Myers

Dane Myers serves as the Stevenson Center's Assistant Director. His role involves selecting prospective students for admission, aiding the academic graduate coordinators with respect to student admission and matriculation, providing counsel to students, supervising the placement process and evaluating students in AmeriCorps positions, maintaining relations with Peace Corps and relevant offices on campus, and aiding the director in other Center operations. Dane earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Illinois State University. He then served in the Peace Corps (St. Vincent’s) after which he returned to ISU to complete his master’s as a Peace Corps Fellow in the Applied Community Economics and Development sequence of the Political Science program coordinated by the Stevenson Center. His professional practice was with the East Central Illinois Area Agency on Aging. After earning his M.S., Dane worked on restorative justice initiatives in Colorado and McLean County. Dane brings a wealth of experience and a passion for service to the Stevenson Center.
