Community Development Services
The Stevenson Center provides direct service to communities.
Economic Impact Analyses: Faculty in the Department of Economics at Illinois State provide communities with professional economic impact analyses of development projects. We can also conduct feasibility studies for local or larger projects and provide industry-level employment forecasting to businesses.
Brownfields Redevelopment Program: In partnership with the EPA-funded Technical Assistance to Brownfields program at Kansas State University’s Center for Hazardous Substance Research, our Brownfields Redevelopment Program provides communities and businesses with the development tools needed to address the environmental and liability problems associated with abandoned, unused, or underused industrial and commercial properties.
Geographic Information Systems: GEOMAP at Illinois State allows communities, businesses, and agencies to examine development programs and their impact using Geographic Information Systems.
Host a Fellow: Peace Corps Fellows and Applied Community & Economic Development Fellows are available for 11-month internships. Fellows are up-and-coming community and economic development professionals, eager to share their expertise and help your organization achieve its goals. Organizations in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois, also have the option of hosting students for graduate assistantships each semester, up to 20 hours per week.
Grant-writing Training: A grant-writing training course, taught by Center staff, is offered each semester at Heartland Community College.
